LHH is looking to fill a VP of Software Engineering Position for a Global Supply Chain company in the Greater Seattle Area.
As the VP of Software Engineering, you will grow and lead product engineering teams and play a critical role in the development, delivery, quality, and success of enterprise software products while shaping technology to support a core and extend strategy, ensuring products are built on a flexible foundation that allows for modular enhancements, extensibility, and scalability.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the engineering vision and roadmap, ensuring alignment with the company's core and extend strategy to support a scalable, modular, and extensible product foundation.
- Collaborate deeply with Product Management to strategically identify and prioritize core enhancements and extensible features, aligning development with customer needs while preserving core product integrity.
- Design and advocate for a modular, extensible architecture that ensures core stability, enabling the quick deployment of customizations and new features to meet market demands.
- Implement engineering standards, design specifications, and change processes to ensure timely, high-quality releases that meet stringent performance, reliability, and scalability requirements.
- Embed the core and extend strategy into every stage of the software development lifecycle, from requirements and architecture to deployment and post-release maintenance.
- Oversee a flexible, core-centric technology stack, tools, and practices that accelerate time-to-market for custom and extensible features while maintaining robust core performance.
- Champion an engineering culture focused on adaptability, modularity, and best practices that support scalable, flexible solutions and drive continuous process improvements.
- Recommend and pilot innovative engineering solutions to improve sales potential, profitability, and customer satisfaction, addressing both market trends and client-specific needs.
- Mentor and coach Engineering Managers to achieve project milestones, supporting their professional growth and fostering a high-performance engineering culture.
- Manage staffing, performance, and resource allocation to ensure teams have the tools and support to meet evolving demands effectively.??
- Develop and maintain a forward-looking technology roadmap to identify impactful technologies across commercial segments, aligning engineering efforts with long-term strategic goals
- Conduct hiring, performance management, and team resourcing to meet organizational goals while fostering an environment that values agility, innovation, and accountability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's in IT, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or related field; MBA preferred.
- Expertise in modular, extensible architecture and core-extend strategies, with a focus on API, microservices, and cloud-native tech.
- Skilled in building scalable software that maintains core stability while allowing customizations.
- Proven background in product development, commercialization, and engineering management.
- 10+ years experience in senior management in technology or logistics.
- 6+ years experience in engineering leadership.
- Extensive experience in agile environments and engineering best practices.
- Proven leadership, mentoring, and relationship-building skills with team members at all levels.
- Skilled change agent with experience leading geographically diverse teams.
- Experienced in drafting professional communications and presentation materials.
- Strong capability in handling emergent situations with advanced safety and security awareness
